Ferguson Waterworks Collaborates with Transcend to Offer Utilities Automated Design Tools for Digitizing Water & Wastewater Treatment Capital Plans

Princeton, N.J., May 3, 2023 — Ferguson Waterworks and Transcend announced today a collaboration that benefits utility customers throughout Ferguson’s extensive network of over 1,600 locations. Transcend’s generative design SaaS tool, the Transcend Design Generator (TDG), is now available to Ferguson municipal, utility, engineering, and design build customers to help them streamline capital planning, conceptual design decision making, design build pursuits, and risk management related to treatment infrastructure, complementing Ferguson’s existing water solutions.

Transcend is a provider of innovative SaaS tools for the automated design of critical infrastructure. Solutions include TDG for water & wastewater treatment works, aeration blower sizing tools, water unit conversion calculators, and more. When combined with Ferguson’s deep domain expertise, industry-leading relationships, and advanced infrastructure products, customers can streamline processes between planning, pursuits, design, and construction.

For the conceptual design of treatment works, Ferguson customers will have the opportunity to access TDG and its associated automated design capabilities, including 3D BIM modeling, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, Process Flow Diagrams, CAPEX/OPEX documentation, equipment lists, and more. This software enables utilities to fully digitize their existing treatment works, plan upgrades and expansions, and assess more treatment options than possible using traditional, manual design methods.

“Utility owners, designers, and design builders are facing many challenges managing aging treatment works projects. More stringent regulatory requirements, extreme weather events, and tightened budgets put our water & wastewater leaders in a tough spot. Now more than ever, stakeholders need access to technology and options to find cost-effective and low-risk solutions that can create a more predictable future in the earliest phases of capital projects – the conceptual design phase,” said Adam Tank, co-founder and Chief Customer Officer at Transcend. “Ferguson can now leverage Transcend’s advanced cloud-based SaaS automated design software to complement its existing product offerings for customers.”

“Our goal is to make our customers’ complex projects simple throughout the project lifecycle,” said Steven Kennedy, Ferguson Waterworks, senior director of the Strategic Infrastructure Group. “Collaborating with Transcend further cements our position as a design and preconstruction solution provider and brings a service to our customers that helps save time, reduce costs, and answer the challenging question of what to build.”
