As an IT manager, I have experience making mistakes with multiple companies. Small mistakes, like hiring too fast, that can be easily fixed or big mistakes, like putting somebody new in charge of a multi-month project and not checking up until the end. We all make mistakes, but it is important that we learn from them, because it will make a company more successful.
I can only explain it as a young adult in love after a broken heart. You know it will end at some point, but you really want to believe in this is for the ages, and you want to put in the effort. You want to be the One, and hope that the partner is the One.
For me, it is critical to build a company around the latest technology, not about catchphrases or simplicity. I want to work at a company where I can grow, learn something new, and expand as a tech person. Not just by adding all the boring experience points on the same boring tasks. I hope that there are many others like me in the tech world.
Even if this means, that we, at Transcend will get great developers, grow them further, and eventually lose them. It is a mistake we constantly make, and we get some heartbreaks from it, but we still believe that we will have some relationships, where we are the One.
