The Future of Wastewater Treatment Series: Atlanta, GA

This article is part of our feature on the future of wastewater in the U.S.’s fastest growing metro areas. We’re using the Transcend Design Generator to automatically build, expand, or upgrade regional wastewater treatment systems in each of these regions.

Atlanta, Georgia continues to rapidly expand as a bustling hub of transportation, a promising entertainment industry mecca, and an inviting business environment. As the Hollywood of the South, and with no competing major city nearby, Atlanta’s growth trend is set to continue upwards. This substantial growth is evident with Atlanta housing five of the fastest-growing counties in the country: Gwinnett County (#31), Fulton County (#34), Cobb County (#71), Forsyth County (#75) & DeKalb County (#82). This results in over half a million population increase in just one decade, and we are preparing for this again.

To support this expanding population and the city’s dynamic growth, the Transcend Design Generator (TDG) is bringing a wastewater treatment solution to the table. We are set to design a major new wastewater treatment plant, specifically located on the city’s eastern side, where a substantial reclamation facility is currently missing.

Our proposed solution is a Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) technology plant. MBRs are advanced wastewater treatment systems that combine conventional activated sludge treatment with membrane filtration. This technology offers high-quality effluent and a compact footprint, making it the perfect choice for Atlanta’s fast-paced urban growth.

As Atlanta takes center stage in population growth, TDG is ready to play a supporting role, offering sustainable, efficient, and high-tech solutions to meet the city’s wastewater treatment needs. Atlanta, get ready because TDG is set to make a splash in your wastewater management!
