As the UK water sector enters one of its most demanding investment and delivery cycles, recognition from New Civil Engineer signals that generative engineering has a critical role to play in how infrastructure gets planned, justified, funded and built.
Princeton, NJ – April 2, 2026 — Transcend, the global leader in generative engineering software for critical infrastructure, has been shortlisted for Software Solutions Provider of the Year at the 2026 NCE Awards. The awards are run by New Civil Engineer, the official magazine of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and the most widely read publication in the UK civil engineering profession.
Founded in 1972, New Civil Engineer has served as the authoritative voice of the civil engineering industry for over 50 years, reaching 42,000 professionals across 77 countries. The NCE Awards recognise the most innovative, impactful, and commercially significant organisations shaping the future of infrastructure. They are judged by an independent panel of more than 80 senior industry figures drawn from clients, academic institutions, and professional bodies. This year’s awards attracted entries across 22 categories, with the shortlist announced today, 2 April 2026. Winners will be revealed at the NCE Awards ceremony in London on 2 July 2026.
The Software Solutions Provider of the Year category recognises technology companies whose platforms are producing measurable outcomes across civil engineering and construction. These organisations that don’t just offer tools, but change how the industry works. Being shortlisted places Transcend alongside the sector’s most significant technology providers, evaluated on outcomes: commercial performance, technical innovation, and proven sector impact.
The timing of Transcend’s recognition is significant. The UK water sector is navigating one of the most consequential periods in its recent history. AMP8 is underway, demanding that utilities accelerate delivery, embrace digital design platforms, and build resilience into their capital programmes. AMP9, and the broader PR29 planning cycle, is already on the horizon, requiring utilities and their engineering partners to build investment cases that are transparent, auditable, and defensible under increasing regulatory scrutiny. The planned consolidation of Ofwat, the Environment Agency, and other regulators into a single body will only intensify that pressure.
It is precisely this environment that the Transcend Design Generator (TDG) was built for. TDG is the only platform purpose-built to automate the preliminary engineering of water, wastewater, and other critical infrastructure. It produces complete, standards-based, auditable engineering data that doesn’t just accelerate the front end of a project. It structures the foundation on which every downstream decision is made: through design, delivery, and the full operational life of the asset. The long-term economics of infrastructure, CAPEX, OPEX, carbon footprint, and resilience, are determined in the earliest stages of planning. TDG gives teams the engineering-grade insight to get those decisions right before commitment, not after.
“The UK has some of the most ambitious infrastructure targets in the world and some of the most demanding regulatory expectations to match. What the sector needs is not just faster design, it is better structured data at the point where the most consequential decisions are made. When the foundation is right, every stage that follows — procurement, delivery, operations — is more efficient, more transparent, and more resilient. That is what TDG delivers, and why we are proud to be recognised by New Civil Engineer.”
— ARI RAIVETZ, FOUNDER & CEO, TRANSCEND
In the UK, Transcend is already working with some of the sector’s most respected organisations. Severn Trent, one of the UK’s largest water and wastewater utilities, has worked with Transcend to transform its early-stage design process; with results that include accelerated decision-making, reduced rework, and stronger alignment across engineering and planning teams. Scottish Water, Galliford Try, and Arup are among the other UK organisations using TDG to standardise inputs, automate optioneering, and produce the kind of traceable, data-rich outputs that regulators and investment committees increasingly require.
Globally, TDG has been used to design more than 20,000 critical infrastructure assets across 65 countries, with the structured engineering data it generates supporting better decisions from the planning table through to long-term asset management. Technology partners including Xylem, DuPont, and HaskoningDHV, alongside a strategic partnership with Autodesk, further embed TDG into the infrastructure supply chain at every stage.
“With AMP8 representing our largest capital programme to-date, we saw a big opportunity to bring further efficiencies and more certainty in choosing the right solution. We’re really excited about Transcend and the important role it plays in improving collaboration from the start to get teams aligned earlier in the process and reduce rework down the line.”
— JACK LOMAS, DESIGN BUSINESS LEAD, TRANSFORMATION, DIGITAL ENGINEERING, AND AI, SEVERN TRENT
Transcend’s NCE shortlisting follows a separate recognition announced this month: the company was also shortlisted for Water Technology Company of the Year at the 2026 Global Water Awards, presented by Global Water Intelligence. The two shortlistings from the water sector’s most respected intelligence body and the civil engineering profession’s leading publication, together reflect the breadth of Transcend’s impact: a platform that is both deeply rooted in water infrastructure and increasingly essential to the wider built environment.
Shortlisted companies will present to the NCE Awards judging panel in London on 5 May 2026. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 2 July 2026 at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
